First Generation

1. John¹ GOODFELLOW, son of William GOODFELLOW and Agnes (possibly SIMSON), was born in Roxburgshire, Scotland ca 1790-2 and died 16 Nov 1876 in West Gwillimbury, Simcoe Co, Ontario, CND.

He married first an unknown woman and had the following child (not carried forward):

3 i. Agnes GOODFELLOW died 24 Aug 1898. She m Gavin ALLAN 7 Feb 1838 in Simcoe Co.

John married second Catherine TIVY 26 Jun 1824 in York Co, Ontario, CND. Catherine, the daughter of Thomas TIVY and Susanna BRITTON, was born 10 Feb 1803 in Toronto, Ontario and died 2 Mar 1887 in West Gwillimbury, Simcoe Co, Ontario.

John GOODFELLOW and Catherine TIVY had the following children (only Thomas carried forward):

ii. William GOODFELLOW was born in Bradford, Simcoe Co, Ontario 25 Mar 1825 and died 24 Aug 1919 in Innisfil, Lefroy, at 94 years of age and is buried in "Auld Kirk" in West Gwillumbury.

+ 2 iii. Thomas G.² GOODFELLOW was born in Bradford, 5 Sep 1826 and died 4 Jul 1904 in Chicago, Cook Co IL, at 77 years of age. He m Susanna SMITH 18 May 1854 in Bradford. They immigrated in 1857 and spent time in PA, NJ and Canterbury DE then removed to Brooklyn NY by the 1870 census then went to Chicago to rebuild the city after the Great Fire of 187_.

iv. James GOODFELLOW was born in Bradford 18 Apr 1828 and died 23 Aug 1909 in New York NY, at 81 years of age. He m Margaret SUTHERLAND 1 Aug 1849 in Bradford. They removed to Brooklyn NY by the 1870 census. He m2 Catherine MILLER.

3 v. Adam GOODFELLOW was born in Bradford 12 Feb 1830 and died 14 Aug 1905 in Clarksburg, at 75 years of age. He m Elizabeth RODDY 29 Jan 1852.

4 vi. Peter GOODFELLOW was born in Bradford 24 Jan 1832 and died 30 Oct 1882 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, CND, at 50 years of age. He m Agnes NELSON.

5 vii. Susanna Mary GOODFELLOW was born in Bradford 15 Oct 1833 and died 13 Apr 1915 in West Gwillimbury, Simcoe Co at 81 years of age. She m Matthew FARIS 22 May 1856 in Bradford.

6 viii. Joseph GOODFELLOW was born 28 Aug 1835 and died 9 Aug 1917 in Barrie, Simcoe Co at 82 years of age. He m Isabella TRUEMAN 2 Apr 1862.

ix. Robert GOODFELLOW was born 9 May 1837 in West Gwillumbury and died 8 Feb 1898 at 60 years of age. He m Margaret ADAMS Sep 1863.

x. Samuel GOODFELLOW was born 12 Feb 1839 and died 10 Feb 1929 in Townline Eupphrasia Canada at 89 years of age. He m Jane Elizabeth McAUSLAN.

xi. John GOODFELLOW was born 14 Sep 1841 and died 11 Feb 1924 in Los Angeles CA at 82 years of age. He m Emma ______.

xii. Anne GOODFELLOW was born 16 Aug 1843 and died 30 Jan 1908 in Bradford, Simcoe Co at 63 years of age. She m James FARIS.

Second Generation

2. Thomas G.² GOODFELLOW (John¹) [1870 photo at right] was born in Bradford, Simcoe Co, Ontario 5 Sep 1826 and died 4 Jul 1904 in Chicago, Cook Co IL, at 77 years of age.

The Bradford Chronicle of 1856 has an advertisement of a Thomas Goodfellow of Bradford Agricultural Implement Manufacturing, Reaping Machines. One of the reasons he may have immigrated to the U.S. in 1858 was because there was then an agricultural depression and a resulting steep drop in grain prices.

He married Susanna SMITH 18 May 1854 in Bradford, Simcoe Co, ON, CND. Susanna, daughter of Norman Phelps and Margaret (COFFEY) SMITH, was born 6 Sep 1835 in Canada (prob Simcoe Co) and died 13 Oct 1870 in Brooklyn NY, at 35 years of age within a month of childbirth and 6 days after her infant boy died. He married second Mary SMITH, prob the sister of his first wife, 3 Apr 1872 in Chicago.

Thomas G. GOODFELLOW and Susanna SMITH had the following children:

+ 7 i. Susanna Mary³ GOODFELLOW was born 24 May 1855.

ii. Norman Phelps³ GOODFELLOW was born 13 Aug 1858 in PA or NY and died 22 Jan 1913 of suicide in Arlington, IL. He married Agnes TOOKAY 1873 in Chicago at age 54. They lived at 112 S. Paulina St and had 4 children: William T. (1884- ), a carpenter; Mabel (1889- ) m ______ MARTIN; Florence G. m ______ MARTIN; Irene B. (1893- ) m ______ HELLER.

iii. Kate³ GOODFELLOW was born 3 Sep 1860 in PA or NY and died w/o issue 3 Nov 1913 of intestinal TB in Chicago, Cook Co, IL. She did not marry.

iv. Thomas Leon³ GOODFELLOW was born 16 Dec 1863 and died w/o issue 20 Feb 1910 of drowning in Chicago at the age of 46. He did not marry.

v. John Freeman³ GOODFELLOW was born 17 Sep 1870 Brooklyn, NY and died 7 Oct 1870 of diarriah in Brooklyn at 20 days old.

Third Generation

7. Susanna Mary³ GOODFELLOW (Thomas G.², John¹) reference G-SuM was born in Barrie, Simcoe Co, ON, CAN 24 May 1855. Susanna died 8 Apr 1936 in Elmhurst, DuPage Co, IL of heart failure and pneumonia at 80 years of age. Her body was interred 11 Apr 1936 in Chicago, Cook Co, IL.

She married Thomas Francis DOHERTY 28 Jul 1880 in Chicago, Cook Co, IL.⁽¹⁾ Thomas was born 15 May 1850 in Ireland. Thomas died 14 Apr 1904 in Chicago, Cook Co, IL, at 53 years of age.⁽²⁾ His body was interred 17 Apr 1904 in Chicago, Cook Co, IL.⁽³⁾ He was a glass packer. He was listed as a resident in the census report 1900 in Chicago, Cook Co, IL.⁽⁴⁾

Susanna Mary GOODFELLOW and Thomas Francis DOHERTY had the following children:

8 i. Marion Agnes⁴ DOHERTY was born in Chicago, Cook Co, IL 24 May 1881. Marion died 22 Dec 1954 in Chicago, Cook Co, IL, at 73 years of age.⁽⁵⁾ She married Willard W. OGBORN 18 Jun 1905 in Evanston, IL.

9 ii. Helen Kathleen DOHERTY was born in Chicago, Cook Co, IL 17 Aug 1883. Helen died 19 Aug 1959 in Elgin, IL, at 76 years of age.

10 iii. Susanna Mary DOHERTY was born in Chicago, Cook Co, IL 23 Mar 1885. Susanna died 4 Sep 1967 in Winterhaven, FL, at 82 years of age. She married William GALLIGHER.

Susanna's occupation: secretary.

+ 11 iv. Edward James DOHERTY was born 2 Nov 1886.

12 v. Katherine Grace DOHERTY was born in Chicago, Cook Co, IL 15 Dec 1888. Katherine died 2 Feb 1970 in Winterhaven FL, at 81 years of age. Katherine's occupation: secretary.

13 vi. Thomas Leon DOHERTY was born in Chicago, Cook Co, IL 18 Sep 1891. Thomas died 1 May 1910 in Chicago, Cook Co, IL, at 18 years of age.⁽⁶⁾ His body was interred 3 May 1910 in Chicago, Cook Co, IL.⁽⁷⁾ Thomas's occupation: butcher clerk.

11. Edward James⁴ DOHERTY (Susanna Mary³ GOODFELLOW, Thomas G.², John¹) was born in Chicago, Cook Co, IL 2 Nov 1886.⁽⁸⁾ Edward died 19 Jan 1954 in Elgin, IL, at 67 years of age.⁽⁹⁾ His body was interred.⁽¹⁰⁾

He married Agnes Mae THOMPSON 22 Jun 1907 in Chicago, Cook Co, IL.⁽¹¹⁾ (Agnes Mae THOMPSON reference T-AgM) In a second ceremony, he married Agnes Mae THOMPSON 7 Jul 1907 in St Joseph, MI.⁽¹⁴⁾ Agnes was born 2 Sep 1883 in St Louis, St Louis Co, MO. Agnes was the daughter of Edward Winfield THOMPSON and Marie Helene PRENOVEAUX. Agnes died 13 Jan 1974 in Elk Grove, IL, at 90 years of age.⁽¹²⁾

Edward James DOHERTY and Agnes Mae THOMPSON had the following children:

16 iii. Elaine Mae DOHERTY was born in Elmhurst, DuPage Co, IL 20 Jul 1918 and died in River Forest, IL. She married Robert SANDER 13 Feb 1943 in River Forest, IL. Robert was born 13 Jun 1912 and died in River Forest, IL. He was a glue salesman for Fuller. They resided in River Forest, IL.

Fifth Generation

14. Maynard Thomas⁵ DOHERTY (Edward James⁴, Susanna Mary³ GOODFELLOW, Thomas G.², John¹) was born in Chicago, Cook Co, IL 20 Jul 1909. Maynard died 22 May 1988 in Park Ridge, La Grange, IL, at 78 years of age. His body was interred.⁽¹⁵⁾

He married Mary Alice MacMILLAN 9 Feb 1931 in Kankakee IL. Mary was born 13 Dec 1908 in Hinsdale, DuPage Co, IL. Mary was the daughter of Harold St. Clair MacMILLAN and Alice Frances MELCHER. Mary died 15 Jul 1973 in Omaha, Douglas Co, NE, at 64 years of age. Mary's occupation: Housewife. Mary graduated from in U of IL, Champaign, IL ca 1931.

Maynard's occupation: Furrier. He resided in Omaha, Douglas Co, NE circa 1975.

Maynard Thomas DOHERTY and Mary Alice MacMILLAN had the following children:
