Boston 7th January 1776
My dear Sally ~
I wrote to you about four months ago, in answer to Mr. Russell's kind Favour, but as I have had none in return am aprehensive you have not received it, whereby am rendered very uneasy, as Nothing cou'd give me greater Consolation than to hear from you often. In my last I gave an account of my obtaining a Pass I was prepared to proceed to see my dear Sally but that I was unfortunately retarded by a Disorder which violently affected my Stomach & Bowels, and before I was recovered, the Ship sailed & that alone was the only Source of my detention. tho anxious beyond Description to have a pleasing Light of you & Mr. Russell yet it will not by Means suit me at present to repair thither for that purpose so am compelled to postpone my willing Inclination of going till I have the pleasure of hearing where you are settled, & then shall most Chearfully embrace the first favourable opportunity of seeing you, therefore beg you'l let me have a Line by the first hand that comes this way, till than am Dear Sally, with sincere Love to Mr. Russell, Your most affectionate Mother

Rebecca CUMBEY was born 8 Dec 1683 in Boston of Robert CUMBEY and Rebecca CROMWELL
After Joseph HOOD died 14 Dec 1729, Rebecca presumably married

- Thomas MIERES 24 Oct 1706, then William ?LEE in 1738

Cumbey HOOD married Sarah "NOLENS" 27 Nov 1754 in Boston (VR)
Sarah NOLENS/NOLAN/NOWLEN is presumably the daughter of Robert NOLENS
This Sarah ("NOLENS") HOOD is the one who wrote this letter and is the widow of Cumbey Hood, who was lost at sea in 1749. Cumbey and Sarah ("NOLENS") HOOD are the parents of Sarah/Sally (HOOD) RUSSELL
