HELLO KINDER KLUB MEMBERS!!!! Welcome to all our
new members! It is so exciting to see all the networking going on
between teachers worldwide!
HAPPY OCTOBER! Fall has fallen!!!! I love pumpkin
spice lattes, crisp mornings, and seeing pumpkins everywhere! It won’t
be long until Halloween is knocking on
our classroom doors! Cindy Steele has some fabulous center ideas located
on her website. Cindy has done a wonderful job documenting her centers
with pictures for those of you that are visual learners! Jessica
Vicknair added her creative touch in the forum below, as well. [On the
Friday before Halloween, my class has a "Halloween" Party- my parties
are center related. I have Literacy Halloween Center related centers in
the morning (Writing Center- "Halloween Sights" Book, I see 3 ghosts,
etc., Listening Center- Listen to a Halloween story on tape, Reading
Center- depends on the letter of the week, and Art Center- Paint a
pumpkin paper bag). My party is different, but still center based:
Halloween Game Center- Pin the Wart on the Witch (I use sticky tack as
the wart), Halloween Haunted House Math-
I have a haunted house on a mat and white bean ghosts- I show a number
and they place that many ghosts in the house,
I also have manipulatives from Oriental Trading for them to make
patterns, Halloween Art Center- make
Candy Corn Man and Ghost Tube Socks, and
Halloween Food Center. I have parents come to help and the children
really enjoy this, and a great way to have a "party" without having a
party. After the party, we "Trick or Treat" as a grade level. Lots of
fun![ |
