We are learning about characters in the books that we read.  We are discussing similarities and differences between the characters.

We will discuss the sequence (first, next, last) of the story in the books that you read to your child.

We are comparing and contrasting stories.  We will be looking at how they are alike and how they are different.

The children are introduced to Venn diagrams to discuss differences in sea animals.

Predict what could happen in the book before you read to your child it by looking at the cover.

We are learning to retell a story by looking at the pictures.

We are learning that new topics begin with a heading.

We are reviewing that nouns name people, animals, places, and things.

We are learning about nouns for more than one.

We will practice printing our first and last names.

Practice making the strokes going down.

We are learning that rhyming words are words that sound the same except at the beginning.

We are listening for the beginning sounds in words.

We are looking at the number of syllables in a word.

We are learning that sentences begin with a capital letter and end with a period.

We are learning to dictate sentences.

The children are completing sentences.

We are writing our names the “Kindergarten” way.  (large letter and then small letters for the rest)

We are labeling our work in our daily journal.  We are using nouns for people in captions.

We are beginning to revise and edit by checking our work. 

We are learning to respond to literature.

We are practicing responding to literature.

We are learning to expand our vocabulary.

We are learning to leave messages.

We are learning about announcements.
