Mission Statement

The Pan African Historical Museum USA ( PAHMUSA) is a non-profit organization consisting of four areas of specialization: Education, Culture, Careen Exploration, and Community Service. PAHMUSA houses Books, authentic art and artifacts relevant to the African and African American diasporas. As an historical museum for Schools, community centers and the general public we foster a clear understanding of Africa her peoples and her enormous contributions to human civilization. We believe in the power of SANKOFA an Akan word meaning: “Know our past so that we can move more effectively into the future.”

Our Goals

This interdisciplinary, international project based effort will meet many educational goals. We feel that our host will also learn from this experience and mutual knowledge and understanding will be developed.

The students and adult chaperones involved l with this project will:

  2. Learn about the peoples, language, cultures and history of West Africa before, during and after the exchange period.

  3. Experience first hand the lifestyles and cultures of Africa.

  4. Engage in cultural activities such as tours of historical sites, visit to museums and a visit with artist and artisans.

  5. Become peer teachers of other children and youth. Sharing their experiences and knowledge through formal and informal presentations.

  6. Teachers will be able to build a curriculum and advance there knowledge of African and African history by exchanging first hand dialog.
