Experience 2/05–Present Gaming Laboratories International Lakewood,
NJ
Test Engineer
- Tested and analyzed hardware and software of gaming devices to comply
with State, Federal and Tribal Gaming Regulatory Standards.
- Verified software modifications in manufacturer source code (C/C++).
- Created ISO test work instruction documents.
- Used proprietary simulator tools to communicate with gaming devices.
2/04–8/04 Indiana Institute of Technology Fort Wayne, IN
Firmware Engineer (voluntary)
- Programmed Microchip PIC microcontrollers which handled various telemetry
functions for the avionics payload portion of a large-scale amateur rocket.
- Coded firmware on two PIC16F767 microcontrollers to input acceleration,
spin, and barometric sensor values through the ADCs.
- Wrote code to store sensor data into two on-board 32Mbit Atmel FLASH memory
modules by the use of the SPI communications protocol.
- Coded firmware to send sensor data redundantly to a DAC modem via the
RS-232 protocol.
- Wrote firmware that displayed mission clock and real-time launch altitude
information to a downlinked video overlay stream. This was accomplished
by interfacing with a BOB III overlay card via RS-232. The BOB III output
video was then sent via UHF so that any television can tune into the live
rocket launch, and view the altitude.
- Coded firmware to start the mission clock and memory-write modules upon
detection of the rocket’s launch. The launch was detected within a
quarter of a second by monitoring the readings of the z-axis acceleration
sensor.
- All functions operated in real-time using interrupt handling. This was
accomplished via the use of the timer features inside the PIC microcontrollers.
These timers allowed flags to be set in code that would trigger function
calls at exact time intervals.
