Welcome to The Explorers Club (T.E.C.)! This site
is meant to be an offshoot of
PIRA.
Instead of focusing on ghosts and hauntings, T.E.C. will showcase our other
hobby...exploring abandoned buildings, interesting places and long forgotten
sites. Our journeys will be documented here with photos, reports of what we
found at the sites and any history we could find on each site.
Our goal for this site is not to brag about the places
we've been or even snuck into. Our goal is the preservation of our past. Why?
So that our children will have the opportunity to see how the world was when
we were growing up. An unfortunate truth is that abandoned buildings do not
last forever. Our mortal enemies... "Progress", "Urban Development" and "The
Elements" seem to always win. At some time, one or all of these will make
the killing blow...forever erasing any trace of what use to be. When that
happens, we feel like we've missed out on something.
The Explorers Club is meant to be a collaboration, a
"group effort". Although the PIRA gang will manage the site, we're looking for help from
"Urban Explorers" everywhere. We're hoping to not only display the places we've
had a chance to visit, but to showcase the places YOU have visited. Whether
you can send us pictures and information or simply a link to an existing
page, you'll get full credit for your contribution. The goal is to preserve
the "cooler" side of our history.
I hope you enjoy what we have to offer, and maybe help
preserve some lesser known history in your area.
