What was the day Ted was born?

What does Ted do?

What does Ted do for a living?
Ted is a Senior Consultant at Tallan Inc. We are a custom software development company. What this means is that other companies say things like “we want a computer system that does this” and we say “ok, we can do that, just give us some money”. Ted usually works directly under the project manager and between the two of them they make all the significant decisions pertaining to the project. As far as the work he basically sits in front of a computer and types all day, along with the occasional break to figure out what he’ll type next.
The technical section:
Most of Ted’s projects have been creating web based, client server applications using J2EE. However, Ted has been the “technical lead” on his last few projects. While the title may sound fancy really it just means that he often gets assigned to do things he doesn’t already know and has to learn relatively quickly. So recently Ted has been working a lot with SQL Server and Apache’s new Web Services Invocation Framework (which is pretty slick I might add).

What does Ted do for fun?
The short answer (and the one Kate would have you believe) is as little as possible. Now, Ted will admit that his hobbies aren’t what you would call “active”. His three main hobbies are watching netflix, playing video games (on PC and Gamecube) and reading.

Where can I find Ted?
That is a difficult question. If it’s the weekend then he is home with Kate in Alexandria, Virginia. If its during the week then he is probably at work, where ever that is. For a long time (Nov 2003 – July 2005) that was in Buffalo, New York. Currently (Sept 2005- Jan 2006) it is Hartford, Connecticut. Tallan pays for Ted to fly home each Friday and back every Monday. Usually for Holidays he is able to work from home so he is able to be around for those weeks. It is a difficult situation because Ted likes his job but hates the traveling (both the actual traveling and the being away from home). Will Ted change jobs in frustration? Will he move out and just become a wandering computer programmer? Stay tuned for new developments.
