Vampire Counts Turn 1

Everything moved straightforward as fast as possible, Lord Arlorn stayed behind the Ghouls so those pesky archers could not see him.

All spells fail horribly or are dispelled by the Wood Elf Mage Lord. However with all his power put into the previous dispel attempts he could not stop the power of the Staff of Damnation that Arlorn carried. Everything moved forward again and the Vampire Bats charge the Wood Elf Archers, which felled two of them in response to the charge with stand and shoot.

The Vampire Bats kill one Archer in the combat phase and one was killed in return, the unit strength of the archer unit killed another so only one of the five Vampire bats were left at the end of turn one.

Wood Elves Turn 1

The Mage Lord joins the horse unit with the General in it and then they drag the Mage another 9” forward. The Archers walked forward to get in range. The Spear Elves walk along side them and the Groth lumbers forward as fast as he can.

The last Vampire Bat is destroyed by Dark Hand of Destruction and the Shafted Grave Livers loose six of their number to Wind of Death, despite the combined dispels attempts of Arlorn, Vaglune and Whonenec.

Wood Elf Archers manage to pick off three Zombies and the other Archers are out of range.

Vampire Counts Turn 2

Everything moves forward again.

The Shafted Grave Livers are replenished and the Staff of Damnation lets out a disappointing puff of smoke as it exhausts after the mage lord dispels its spell.

Wood Elves Turn 2

The Wood Elf Generals will fails him as the Glade Rider unit fail their fear test as they try and charge the Shafted Grave Livers. Everything else bides their time.

Magic depletes the Ghouls number by three.

Wood Elf archery kills five Zombies and four of the Dem Live Bones.

Vampire Counts Turn 3

Everything moves forward again and the magic phase is stopped dead by dispels and weak willed wizards.

The banshee is just out of reach for her scream.

Wood Elves Turn 3

Groth charges the Ghouls while the Mage Lord decides he will be safer behind the Archers than in the Glade Riders.

Mage Lord miscasts and spends the rest of the magic phase trying to control the rouge spell.

More shooting whittles down Dem Live Bones and the Zombies.

Groths mighty charge is an empty threat and no wounds are caused by anybody and the Ghouls lap round.

Vampire Counts Turn 4

After the Ghouls were charged by the awesome figure of Groth the rest of the undead edged forward, wary of a powerful charge form the agile elves. Lord Arlorn set himself up for a charge against the Elven General next turn.

To busy commanding their units to move forward and picking the flesh that broke off onto their clothes Vaglune and Whonenec forgot to cast their spells.

The Banshee wailed at this pitiful display and one archer fell with an exploded brain.

Groth and the Ghouls continue at a stand still with the Ghouls lapping to the back.

Wood Elves Turn 4

The Spear Elves charge forward as a hail of arrow shafts picks of some more Zombies on the other side of the battlefield. The Spear Elves feel the power of Death Dealer surge through them as they destroy the front rank of the Shafted Grave Livers.

Groth kills his first two Ghouls in return the Ghouls do nothing. The Ghouls are far too great in number to break.

The wood elf General decided to follow the example of his troops and tried to charge Dem Live Bones again but the rest of the unit would not stand for it as they failed their fear test.

Vampire Counts Turn 5

Lord Arlorn charged headlong into the Glade Rider unit killing two of them so none could fight back, he had suffered a wound from the Generals longbow as he charged.

The Ghouls decided to impress their master and wounded Groth twice, the staunch Treeman rolled snake eyes on his break test so he could hack the Ghouls again.

The Spear Elves that could attack Whonenec did, they however only wounded him once and the Shafted Grave Livers have their number halved.

The winds of magic fail the Vampire Counts again.

Wood Elves Turn 5

The Wardancers let out a battle cry as they leapt across the Archers and into combat with the Zombies.

The Mage Lord casts Death Dealer on the horse regiment so they could fight off the Vampire Lord in their death throws.

As Arlorn shouts out a bestial challenge to the Elven Commander who accepts the challenge.

Not much shooting as most units are in combat.

As Arlorn prepares to fight the Elven Commander Whonenec dies with a spear in his heart and the rest of his unit is killed, except for the command. The zombies loose at least 15 of their number brining them to deaths door.

The Ghouls get tired of fighting of the Treeman and take a further two wounds off him, bringing down to one wound. Groths mighty figure could be seen fleeing from the Ghouls but trips over his own roots as the Ghouls finish him off and charge the archers with their remaining pursuit. The Archers call upon the General for help but realize he is no more than a bloody pulp that is being wiped off Arlorn sword and flee the charge.

Vampire Counts Turn 6

The Ghouls charge the fleeing Archers who decide to keep running and keep their lives. Dem Live Bones are called to Arlorns side to help him defeat the horses before the approaching dawn.

The Shafted Grave Livers are brought to an untimely second end and even with the help of Dem Live Bones, Arlorn could not quite break the horses.

The death throws of the Glade Riders do however end the life of Vaglune.

The Banshee screams as she charges the Mage Lord and causes two wounds but fail to cause any in combat.

The Wardancers draw the combat between the Zombies and themselves.

Wood Elves Turn 6

The Wood Elves realize that it is dawn and the undead will have to retreat. They fall to their knees and pray to the forest Gods for forgiveness over the death of Groth who had single handedly defeated Arlorns maker, William.

The Wardancers decide to wreak vengeance upon the Zombies and Battle Standard Bearer who all fall to their blades.

The horses loose another two of their number before Arlorn bows to them and runs to his coffin, racing against the sun.

Licking their wounds and mourning their loses hundreds of vows are taken for vengeance upon the horrid dead and Arlorn.

Authors note: This was my first sixth edition battle I had, it was a great 2000 pointer and I will be having another one soon and I will right up the battle report as soon as I have the battle.
