As you can see from the picture below we put the motor, and transmission in today. It was a pain in the ass to get in!!!!
Note....If you are going to install the motor with the same type of headers i used(Hooker super comp headers) I would take the steering Box,and Idler arm off first.....If we would of took them off it would have made this install alot easier.....Nice to find out after the fact...LOL

April 17,2004 I have started to put the motor together. It's about time!!!!
The first thing we put together was the oil pump, oil pick, and windage tray.We wanted to make sure we had enough clearance between the oil pickup and the pan

After that was ok we started to put the heads on.We ran into some problems with the rocker arm shaft support and the head bolts. We where putting ARP head bolt in. If you look at # 1 You can see how high the ARP Head bolts are to the Rocker arm shaft support. # 2 We had to do grinding on the under side of the rocker shaft support to have them sit flat on the head.
So the other problems # 3 as you can see from the picture there was NO way a ARP head bolt would have fitted under those hex bolts # 4.So lucky for us that we had some stock heads bolt from another 390 motor to put at the end of each head. # 5 shows how close the hex bolts are to the stock boltsThe other problem was that i wanted to put the valve spring baffles on the heads, and with the new rocker arm shaft supports we had to due alot of grinding on the lips of the baffles to get it to work.
