Debbie Martin’s dolls are easily
recognizable their stunning face paints - by their sultry eyes with their long
rooted eyelashes and their sexy hair.
She has been involved with restoring and customizing dolls for a long time
and most intensively over the past ten years.
She
likes to create as life-like a face as possible on her dolls. She explains, “The human face has been my
forte for art all through my life. The eyes,
especially, because they are the windows to one’s soul.” She adds,
“In face painting,
the more life-like, the more effective.
And the more deliberate the look, the more she will emit my inner
personality.”
“My Destiny”
Her inspiration, she says, comes
from her mom. “She taught me patience
and love” and says her best moment as a customizer came when she restored her
first re-rooted Twist n TurnTM, saving her from the trash.

Her
painting credentials include:
- Two years of study
under Pat Yapp in Connecticut: sumi, acrylics, water colors, oils and
craypas
- Seminars in
Glousther, Massachusetts, Milford, Connecticut and Watch Hill, Rhode
Island
- Three years of
study in Vero Beach, adult education, water colors and portraits.
