


When
thinking of designer dolls, think of Jenn Scully of J. Scully Designs’
beautiful brides – gorgeous full gowns, detailed beading, beautiful lace and
intricate braided hairdos.
Jenn
is fairly new to customizing, having only customized dolls for two years but
already she has gathered an impressive number of accomplishments.
- In
October of 1998, she won most creative for her “Marionetta” doll, most
recently shown in the June 1999 issue of Barbie® Bazaar.
- Also,
in October of 1998, she won 1st place Judges Choice and 1st
place Viewer’s Choice for “Marionetta” at the Halloween mini-convention in
Tulsa, Oklahoma. She also won 2nd place Viewer’s Choice for
“Patricia,” her blue bride doll.
“Denver Shopper”
Her
most exciting moment as a designer was winning at the Tulsa Halloween mini
convention in 1998.“ When they told me, I couldn’t say a word, so I just stood
there with my mouth clamped shut and tears streaming down my face.I am one of
those people who had never won anything in her life so that was a very exciting
moment for me.”
Since
then she has gone on to win many more honors for her designs.
- In
January of 1999, Jim Faraone announced she would be a featured artist in
his 3rd Fashion Doll Makeovers book.
- July
1, 1999, Jenn Scully Designs was the featured artist of the Month on Dee
Dee’s Barbie Newsflash Web site.
- July
4, 1999, “Pink Extravagance” was the Featured Doll of the Week on Rebecca
Chulew’s Customized Dolls Web site.
- July
27, 1999, It was announced that “Midnight Sparkle” will be the only
Barbie® featured on the cover of Jim Faraone’s Fashion Doll Makeovers book.
- August
7, 1999, Jenn won a Crystal Award (1st place) in the
Miscellaneous category in Barbie® Bazaar Magazine’s 1999 Bazaar Make-over
Artists Awards (BMAA) for “Marionetta” and the BMAA Crystal Award (1st
place) for “Denver Shopper” in the Contemporary Fashion Daywear/Suits
category.
