Other places you can go

The Digital Bits: One of my favorite DVD sites.

DVDBeaver: My other favorite DVD site.  A little hard to navigate, but a great source for DVD reviews, comparisons, and upcoming releases, especially for arthouse cinema.

Criticker: Rate movies, get recommendations.  My username is FitFortDanga.

The Internet Movie Database: anything and everything about movies.  Some folks accuse them of inaccuracies (usually about technical issues), but I say they've got an amazing batting average considering all the data they provide.

They Shoot Pictures, Don't They?: Every year, TSPDT uses a complicated algorithm to compile all the "top (#)" movie lists to generate their own top 1000 list.  I've made it my goal to see all 1000.  As of November 2009, I'm at 830 seen.

I Check Movies: Another site for list-obsessed movie fans.  Integrates with iMDB's "My Movies" function for hassle-free updates to your checklists.

Ingmar Bergman: The best online resource for my favorite director.

Flickchart: Okay, one last movie site.  This one is pretty worthless, but is nonetheless asburdly addictive and a fun timekiller.  Two random movies are given, pick the one you like more.  Rinse and repeat.

Gone But Not Forgotten: dead celebrities!

The Onion: the best phony news on the planet.

The Straight Dope: answering the unanswerable.

Penny Arcade: very funny cartoon, mostly about videogames. Updated every Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

Real Life: another great web cartoon.
