Probably the best choice for this and many other tasks is Quicktime. The new Quicktime 4.0 is a defacto industry standard and does many other things as well. Go for the full installation, and if it's still an option, the Quicktime Pro version is well worth the pocket change they ask for it.

Another choice for this task is Yamaha's MIDI plug-in. The Yamaha is a reasonable alternative that some people think is better, but it doesn't sound much diffrent. It does have a little more control, for instance tempo and transpsition. Click on the Yamaha nameplate for these options

Once you've downloaded, unpacked and installed the software, the Navigator preference window should look something like this. Didn't I tell you Quicktime 4 had a lot of abilities? Windows users and Explorer users will have to extrapolate from this, I have no specific information on their potential problems.
