Easter 2008
Sean and I drove up to Chimayo to the Santuario there.
It is a famous Pilgrimage chapel. Each year faithful Catholics
will begin to walk the week before Easter to the chapel.
It is a lovely place with a calm spirit.

Santuario de Chimayo. It is famous for healing dirt.

The Santuario has two bell towers.
We heard the bells peel on Easter.

Stone cross stations out behind the chapel
near a stream. Quite haunting before the sun came out.

Saint Frances collections Easter donations.

Colorful candels lit by the faithful.

A shrine is made extra beautiful at Easter.

The priest and his accolite (wearing a
Harley-Davidson Sweatshirt) prepare to begin mass.

The mass in progress outside. There were
too many people to hold the service inside.

The sun emerges making everything more beautiful.

/The gates beckon us to come inside.

A near by chapel with offerings to La Nina.

Chimayo scenery. Kitschy but fun.
