Sasha Chloe & Tess
SashaChloe and Tess
On Saturday, October 28, 2000, Sasha succumbed to chronic renal failure after a battle lasting eight weeks. A description of her struggles against this can be read at the Medical Update page following Sasha's Story. Melissa and I were devastated upon losing our daily companion of eight years. We realized we would be in bad shape for grief if we did not soon fill that void with new kittens. Little did we realize how quickly this would take place. The afternoon of the day we had Sasha put to sleep we visited the Humane Society of Savannah Georgia, and through that agency we found litter mates, Chloe and Tess. We were told they were strays. Tess must have been the runt of the litter; she was tiny. Plus she had an upper respiratory infection, something that Chloe was certain to catch as well. Tess wasn't very active but loved to snuggle and was very grateful for any affection. She had a runny nose, sneezed a lot, and had an infected right eye. The Humane Society would not treat them as a matter of policy, they simply handle too many animals to treat them all. So if not adopted these two would most likely just get worse and have to be euthanized. They were adorable little girls, probably not the 6 weeks the Humane Society claimed, but that was probably not too far off. We took them, believing we could treat them with medicine and care that would solidify their survival chances. These pages are witness to their growth and development.

The are wonderful little people, and for strays, uncommonly trusting and sweet. They will never be able to replace Sasha as she will always have a special place in our hearts. But they do give us a much needed outlet to display our love for them. We will raise them in honor of Sasha.

And now here it is May, 2001, they have grown a lot, even Tess needs to go on a diet to lose one pound. They have bonded with each other fiercely and with us. They cry if one gets closed in a closet or a bedroom until we notice and come to the rescue. They groom each other, they tussle ferociously with each other, they sleep with each other. Precious is definitely the word that applies. Tess has "big love" with loud and continuous purrbox and pours her affection on us. Chloe is the elegant sweetheart, delicate and gentle, and just as amazed as we are of Tess' unbridled energy. She just watches in wonder as "Tess the terror" zooms around the house. They are great little people.
