In 1975 I started a journey of investigation into the tiling of the Pentagon sparked by an article by Martin Gardner in my son's Scientific American . At that time I became thoroughly intrigued with the question of whether there were any more ways to tile the Pentagon. I started my search to find possible new ways to tile the pentagon. Between 1976 and 1977 I discovered four more new types of tessellating pentagons. For a short history of that and my method click on the following link: "Perplexing Pentagons".   There are now known to be 14 different types of pentagon tiling. To see a chart of these click on the following link: "The 14 Different Types of Convex Pentagons that Tile the Plane".

Below are the four types of Pentagons
that I discovered and some of my
tessellation designs.

each having two 90 degree angles
and three 120 degree angles.
