Thomas B. Rose Local History Room:
The library's local history room houses a collection
of non-circulating materials relating to the history of
Vance County and its people. All extant Henderson
newspapers are available on microfilm as well as the
U.S. Census for Vance and its parent counties.

Meetings: 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30pm; Local History Room, H. Leslie Perry Library, 205 Breckenridge St., Henderson.
The Henderson Daily Dispatch carries notices of upcoming meetings with announcements of any changes in meeting place or time.
Annual membership dues: $15 individuals/ $20 family, payable in January or whenever you join. To join, simply show up at a meeting and pay dues, or dues can be mailed to: Vivian Edwards, P O Box 33, Middleburg, NC 27556.

Vance County Historical Museum
updateThe Vance Co. Historical Museum, operated by the Vance County Historical Society, has moved to Ashland Plantation, Satterwhite Point Rd. Ashland is Vance County's oldest home, built in 1740 by Samuel Henderson. At present, the museum is open for group tours and by appointment. Henderson Institute Historical Museum
National Register of Historic Places; collects, preserves and displays artifacts, oral and written records, photographs and printed material regarding the education of African Americans in Vance County. Houses class photographs, yearbooks, artifacts from Jubilee Hospital, materials donated from alumnus and a research center. Included in the collection are portraits of the administration and items from the Delany sisters' estates.
