While there are differences in diet restrictions, below is just an idea of what some galactosemic children may eat. Keep in mind that your own doctor/clinic may not necessarily approve of all these foods so you should check with your clinic first to be sure a certain food is "allowed" for your child. And always be sure to read food labels carefully, as companies do change food product ingredients often.

If you have other suggestions for breakfast, lunch or dinner and would be willing to share them here please email tfcozzo@comcast.net

Here are some other great lunch or dinner ideas from Barb Jones – Thank you Barb Jones!

Macaroni noodles with safe margarine and garlic

A lot of rice mixes are okay especially the "off-brands" of Chicken or beef flavors

turkey bacon

homemade fries

Taco salad and tacos ...both hard and soft shells. Watch the taco seasoning...some has lactose in it.

"scallop" ham and potatoes...I just cook diced potatoes, drain and add chunks of diced ham. Mix in a generous amount of safe margarine, S&P. It is good.

I make a modified macaroni salad made with crushed pineapple, ham, celery, carrots, onion, another optional item is peas which I sometimes use in moderation IF you allow them. I pour a mixture of mayo, mustard with a little sugar over the macaroni and veg.

Several brands of Ramien noodles.

Schwan's carries a Mexican food called Taquitos. I just found them at a local Aldi's store that has both chicken and beef flavors. They can be fixed in the microwave, oven or fryer...couldn't be easier.

Chicken breast with seasoning of your choice cooked in a George Foremen type grill is fast and good.

Turkey bacon wrapped in a flour tortilla with mayo, lettuce and onion on it.

Chef salads with safe ingredients...with a safe salad dressing.
