Click here for an interactive Mapquest map centered on Co-op City in the northeast Bronx.
If you know of an on-line map that allows the size and zoom level set in the URL, as had been the case with Lycos (e.g. HREF="http://lycos.vicinity.com/cgi-bin/webmap?Template=lycos&Context=-73.83,40.875,40000,0,0&Height=600&Width=500&Level=%2D1" ) please let me know.

Pictures

Here are a few (more to come...) Bronx at sunset from Co-op City
This is a typical dinnertime scene from the kitchen window of the apartment I lived in in Co-op City.
Truman High School is in the foreground, with the George Washington Bridge behind it. The lighted street at the upper right is Boston Post Road, near Eastchester Road; behind that on the horizon are buildings near Montefiore Hospital, and Tracey Towers near Bronx Science.
I've got to rescan this as a JPEG! Bronx neighborhoods map
Map (from some City of New York publication, I believe) showing the names of sections and neighborhoods in the Bronx.
Bronx neighborhoods map
Map (from a similar City of New York publication, I believe) showing various American cities overlaid on areas with comparable populations. In other words, each of these neighborhoods would be a major city in its own right if it were located in flyover country. The map may be old, as it omits the more than 55,000 people in
Co-op City.

For scannists

Unverified, from various sources

Except for the Co-op City frequencies, most of these are wrong

I hope to have this corrected soon. I did verify some new frequencies on June 19, 1999.

The New York DX Association Shortwave & Scanner Listeners Net seems to have had accurate lists as of December 1998, but no lists as of April 2004 (has this page really been "under construction" for more than five years?). I hope to add the relevant Bronx and City-Wide frequencies from their table here soon.
