The Band Trades

| I've had a bunch of people contact me during the last year, asking to do trades or B&Ps. I've always been willing to do this, even though I am no longer able to devote the time to be involved in trading as I once was. I am fully aware of how difficult it is to get started in trading and compiling a collection. There are several people in the trading community who are directly responsible for the music collection I now possess. They are good people and have heard my words of appreciation many times. Unfortunately, the people who have lately contacted me [as of April, 2009], sincere and willing to B&P or trade, have never followed through. Now, I'm sure they have busy lives with lots of things to do. So have I. How long do they expect someone to wait for them to follow through with their promises of what they say they will do? Is a promise or obligation of any value anymore? The thing is, when you contact somebody with the express purpose to be involved in a trade or a B&P and then NEVER follow through, you are not only expressing your own inability to be responsible, but you are poisoning the well for people who follow in your footsteps. Given the large number of recent negative experiences I've had with newbies interested in B&Ps or with instituting trading, I am no longer able to engage in either practice unless you can demonstrate a history of following through with your promises and obligations. Please do not contact me unless you can demonstrate your willingness to follow through on your obligations. What we do here in sharing music has nothing do do with YOU and everything to do with making the music available to everyone. If that is too difficult a concept for you, then perhaps you need to spend more time at Walmart.
