Kate and Jode Dowling play Irish Traditional Music with an intimacy and depth gained from over 10 years of playing together. Their combined passion for the music translates to powerful performances. Kate's whistle and flute interlaces with Jode's fiddle to create a sound unique to these artists.
Kate and Jode are recent graduates of The Doon Céilí Band. Previously, they played together in the bands Corncrake (with Tom Klein), The Quaking Bog Céilí Band (with Daithí Sproule, Sean Egan and Paul Wehling), and Field Day with Tom Klein, Sean Egan and Eric Ryan-Johnson).
In the fall of 2004, Kate Dowling, along with the St Paul Conservatory of Music, opened the Center for Irish Music. We have since gone independent and have moved to our new home at the Wellstone Center. Kate is currently teaching whistle and flute and Jode is teaching fiddle. And the Center for Irish Music, drawing from our rich local community, now offers lessons in uillean pipes, guitar, singing, accordion, and more! For more information, see: The Center for Irish Music.
