Kate Dowling

Flute and Tin Whistle
Kate, originally from Chicago, IL, is one of the finest exponents of the Irish tin whistle that you will hear. Kate dedicated over 18 years to the whistle before recently picking up the flute. With the flute, you can hear the joy she feels expressing herself with a new instrument.
Kate began as a student of Noel Rice in Chicago, whose Tipperary flute style had a great influence on her. Along with her fellow students, she went on to form the the band Baltiorum, which became very popular in Chicago and Milwaukee, performing at Milwaukee Irish Fest and other venues.
Kate's other projects have included Field Day, the Quaking Bog Céilí Band, Corncrake, and Mind the Gap from Champaign-Urbana, IL.
