Jode Dowling

Fiddle
Jode, who grew up in Milwaukee WI, has been fiddling for over 20 years, playing in a variety of bands and groups. Early influences on Jode's playing include lessons from Liz Carroll, John Kelly, Bobby Casey, and Joe Ryan, along with the undeniable influence of his mother Betty (from Gurteen, Co. Sligo), his father Joe (from Tulamore, Co. Offaly) and his older brother Martin, also a fiddler. Since arriving in Minnesota in 1989, Jode has been an energetic contributor to the local music scene.
Jode performed and recorded with the alt-country band Coolidge. He was also a member of the popular band formerly known as the Clumsy Lovers, winner of the Minnesota Music Award for Best Traditional and Modern Folk Group for 1995, and the groundbreaking ensemble Field Day. Jode's other projects have included Corncrake, the Quaking Bog Céilí Band, and the good old Milwaukee band, the Minstrel Druids. Jode also perfomed with Laura McKenzie in the Guthrie Theater production "She Stoops to Conquer".
And oh yeah, he can also shake a mean martini.
