Week of September 24, 2005
Okay...since 2 isn't doing this anymore, I'm
going to try this out. Basically, I go out, and I search for Furry News each
week to report in one convenient place, right here. I will also provide my
commentary and thoughts on the subject. Currently, my commentary tends to sound
a lot like 2's, at least in attitude. It'll probably sound more like me once I
get used to this, and it becomes me doing my own thing as opposed to me doing
his thing. I encourage everyone to respond and leave comments of their own.
Anyway...it's that time...for the first time...
"And now, let's all
relax, with Sir Jarylan and the furry news..."
(I figured I'd get my own sound bite, to be different from 2's.)
World's smallest living dog
Okay...between you and me and these four walls, this is a bit
weird. I know for a fact that nature is not behind shit like this. Instead it's
just humans medling in the affairs of other beasts. I've heard about this, I
guess, quest to miniturize dogs and cats. Well, dogs mainly. This is, I think,
just cruel and stupid. I mean, you can shrink them down with selective breeding,
but what you get then is a dog with MANY health problems, and a lot of them
don't live very long. Is it worth breeding an animal whose life will be a
tortured existance just to get your name in a book for a few years? Ida
know...maybe I'm just looking way to far into this. Still, I feel sorry the dog.
'There's a lion in my loo'
Further proof that if you tease anyone enough, they'll
eventually go cry in the bathroom. Even the really lion hearted. Or maybe he was
just in there reading PlayCat while pawing off? Either way, I guess this proves
once and for all hiding in the bathroom is a bad idea and fools no one.
Study finds dogs can smell cancer
Okay, this was a good interesting story, and frankly, just
shows again how animals do a hell of a lot more for us than we really thank them
for. I'm not sure if this will ever be big in animal treatment, but we have
taken a lot from them and put our own spin on it over the years. Bats and
dolphins gave us sonar, birds inspired us to flight, dogs have helped us hunt
for food for many years, protecting our families and homes. And now, perhaps it
is possible they help protect our health as well. If we can determine what it is
they're smelling, chances are we can create a machine more accurate than the
average pooch, and use it to save lives. Amazing, eh?
Anyway, that's all for the first edition of (Jarylan's) Furry
News. If I had theme music, it'd be playing in the background. I'll see everyone
next week when I go out and find more cool stories.
