The Rayne Frog Festival (annual event): self-proclaimed Frog Capital of the World!
Labor day weekend, Sept 1, Rayne, LA

Rayne, Louisiana - a small town just outside New Orleans - is known as the Frog Capital of the World. The first Frog Derby was held here in 1946. In this event the prettiest women in town dressed frogs up in jockey uniforms and raced them. This event continues today. If you happen to be in the area on Labor Day weekend, you can enjoy Rayne's annual Frog Festival. For those who can't make the trip, visit their website at Frog City.

Frog Follies, a “ribbit-ing” public art exhibition of colorful painted frogs. From May through August 2005, four-foot, three-dimensional fiberglass forms – each decorated by an area artist – will be stationed throughout downtown Lafayette-West Lafayette, IND
