Bob's family owned one of the largest bakeries in the area and he learned the baking craft at an early age.  Besides working for the family bakery he worked as a pastry chef at the famed Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport, Maine.

After high school, Bob enlisted in the Army and was sent to Germany.  After a short time he volunteered for assignment to Vietnam where he served two voluntary tours of duty.   One with K Troop, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment and the other with the 528th QM Company.

Bob returned home in 1969 and took up his former profession as a baker in Portsmouth's only remaining bakery - Sher's home bakery.  It was there that Bob met Hellen Small of Eliot, Maine.  They married October 2, 1971.

Bob, Hellen and Hellen's son, Rick moved into an apartment next door to Bob's parents.   Hellen and Bob still live there today.  Their son, Rick lives in Bedford, NH with his wife Liz (Osario) and their three children, Drew, Dana and Lacey. Rick owns and operates Threshold Building.

In 1973 the bakery where Bob and Hellen worked, closed.  Bob went to work as an airfield firefighter at Pease AFB - a SAC base.  Bob was a member of The Nat'l Assoc. Of Govt. Employees (a labor union) and served as the local's Vice President.  He was also a volunteer firefighter for the city of Portsmouth.

In 1976 Bob began attending St. Catherine Of Siena Church in Portsmouth and two years later he joined the church.

Bob began attending classes at New Hampshire Technical College and in 1981 earned a degree in science.

He is now retired from the Fire Service and thoroughly enjoys retirement life.

Bob likes reading, films and sports.  He is an avid New England Patriots fan.   Good thing.  They won the Super Bowl in 1985, 1996, 2001, 2003 and 2004.
