ING Marathon  --  March 25, 2007

Joyce and Choo Choo have been training for the ING Marathon all winter.
It was Joyce's first marathon!  -- 26 miles through Atlanta.

From Joyce:

Yes, I’m still alive and WE DID IT!  The ING GEORGIA MARATHON on Sunday March 25.  Thanks to the best coach in the world: Mr. Choo Choo Richardson (he MAKES me run!) I managed to cross the finish line and get THE medal.  It was absolutely the hardest thing I’ve ever done.  And it was so worth it!   The race course was fantastic and the weather was beautiful.   Thousands of cheering fans along the way.   Yes, it got hot at the end, but believe me, the heat was the least of my concern.  I was just focused on crossing that finish line still standing.  The best part was that I didn’t “crumble” at the finish line (way too many endorfins running through my body).   It was great!

It took us 5 hrs and 59 minutes.   Choo Choo set his watch for the intervals we ran (run 1 min/ walk 1 min).  My watch was set to track the time for each mile.  We were trying to keep a 13 min mile pace .   There were 15,000 participants in the race, 9190 did the Half marathon and 4340 did the Marathon .  I placed 3890 in the marathon (so I was faster than about 550 people…pretty cool).

Congratulations, Joyce and Choo Choo!
