We
went on a road trip this summer during August from Minnesota to Toronto
Canada with stops in Chicago, Niagara Falls, and the Sand Dunes on Lake
Michigan. Our first day started out early and we stopped in Madison
Wisconsin so Steve could take a look at the University of Wisconsin.
Madison is a fun and beautiful city, worth a look if you are headed by.
We continued on to Chicago Illinois, where we stayed in Skokie outside
the city and used the L train and buses to get around the city. That
night we ate at a great Chinese restaurant, Joy Yee’s, in Evanston
(next to Skokie) and then headed into downtown to Navy Pier to catch
the fireworks for the end of the tall ships festival. The next day was
rainy so instead of trying the beaches we headed to China town (not
overwhelming) and on to the museum of science and technology on the
south side of town. The U boat display of an actual U boat was great
(U-505). From the museum back into downtown and to Greek town for
dinner in a fun Greek restaurant. Dragged back to the hotel and to
sleep. The next day we headed out for Toronto and drove along the lake
through downtown Chicago. Chicago was fun and is definitely worth a
visit, use the public transit system and it looks like biking along the
shore of lake Michigan would be fun.
