Bachmann Shay in the front yard

We thought it would be interesting to document the construction of our "G" scale (also called largescale or large scale) train layout so others who share a similar interest can follow the progress. Our hopes are to show people how much fun a good hobby can be.

In The Beginning...

In the beginning there was childhood. In that childhood there was mom and dad (someplace) and mom and dad bought their son a cute little toy train... I think that day was somewhere around Christmas of umm... 1974? Lets see that was some thirty plus years ago, whew! Well that train was an "HO" and I think it is still here someplace (or maybe not). Today we (my wife and three kids) are also into large scale trains. A few years ago we bought our first "G" scale train at Sam’s Club. $100.00 bought us a nice "Bachmann Big Hauler Plus 4-6-0" in dark green color with red trim that was perfect for around the Christmas Tree and it was sporting the "Southern" road name. In early 1998 we (that means me) decided that life was missing something else, alas, the birth of our newest. The GARDEN TRAIN. I have no idea if or when it will ever be finished. In fact I hope not, so far it's just fun working on it. These pages will track the progression of the JJ&C railroad. I hope everyone who visits this site enjoys what they see and comes back on a regular basis to check things out.
