Local Largescale Club Interests? I live in White Lake, Michigan if you don't already know and we don't have a local Largescale or Garden Railway Society anywhere close. As far as I know, the ONLY two clubs, anyplace close of this nature are both 2 to 3 hour car rides away (roundtrip). My question to all the local visitors of this site is: What are your interests in forming a local club or organization? I really don't know how to go about it other than the basic idea. The August 1999 issue of Garden Railways magazine has an editorial on page 6 written by Marc Horovitz suggesting that any and all Largescale / Gardeners should venture out and get a club going. I have been thinking of just such a thing for a while now but I don't want to be the only member if you know what I mean.... Update: I have been in contact with Marc Horovitz and he has passed along a few idea's to use in getting a club started in my area. One of the things he has helped out with is a very nice one time mailing list / labels that he and Valerie Henning of Kalmbach Publishing put together. The list consists of 416 subscribers to Garden Railways magazine that are in the area, or at least an area that I think is within an hours drive... I will be making up some small mailers over the next few weeks and sending them out as time permits. Once again, if you live in the area and think a club would be nice please let me know.
