Places to buy from?

When we first started out in the largescale hobby, we didn't know who or where to buy our stuff from. As with any other purchase it's always nice to get a good deal along with good quality items. One of the first places we started looking was in the pages of Garden Railways Magazine. There we found quite a few good dealers and deals but we thought it would be nice to list some of our favorites for you right here. I don't know how you will like any of them but we have had nothing but good service along with good all around deals.

West Bend, Jackson & Southern Railroad, is probably one of the best places I have found to buy USA Trains products from. His (David Gehrke) prices are always the cheapest and he always gives great personal service. I have even had the chance to visit his store once while out of town on business. I was met with a firm handshake, a genuine smile and once we started talking, he even recognized me by name through our conversation. You can call him toll free at (877) 574-7225.

TrainWorld/TrainLand, is another great place I have done business with. I purchase most of my Aristo-Craft and Bachmann products from these guys. I try to pinch pennies so I usually end up buying what they have on close-out from month to month. I must also admit that it took me a short period of time get used to the "New Yorker" personality (no offense intended). I always thought the girls answering the phone were mad at me... They also have a toll free order line at (800) 541-7010 and a question/answer line at (718) 436-7072.

San-Val Discount Trains, was one of the first places I did business with and I was very happy with their service. In the past couple of years I have found their pricing to be a little higher than the dealers listed above but they do send out flyers from time to time that have sale items that are too good to pass up. Their toll free number is (800) 423-3281.

Lantz Train Shop, is a dealer that I have just started to do business with. So far, his pricing is good and the service has been great. Gary (Lantz) is also a strong supporter of the largescale hobby in general. Every month Lantz Train's sponsors the Online Photo Contest at myLargescale.com for anyone who wants to enter. His toll free order number is (888) 762-6633 and the information number is (607) 795-5038.
