First, a little about me. I have always been drawn to music of any kind. I was always listening to new radio stations, always going to see new, unheard of performers. Originally from north-west New Jersey and coming of age in the late 60’s-70's, I had the pleasure of listening to WNEW FM from NY. That's when “The Night Bird”, Allison Steele, and Scott Muni and Pete Fornatale were a part of my daily life. I spent many nights up listening to the newest sounds, music that was many times taboo from daytime play. Music that was more of the experimental and avant-garde type as compared to “The Daily Top 40”. Little did I know that the Marconi Experiment was going on right here in Philadelphia with what is now WMMR.
I spent many hours in music stores and at flea markets, picking up pieces I had never heard of, listening to them track after track on my home-brew stereo system, wearing out vinyl, adding to my musical listening experiences. Times fly by and I have spent the last 29 years in the electronics field (go figure), the last 18 traveling most of the time fixing other peoples problems. I began to miss my vinyl, forever pounded by the new digital edge while traveling.
So today, I find myself taking a step back, into the old, dusty analog domain, because I missed that warm vinyl sound. But not the scratches! And I, like many others, have become used to not fearing a blown speaker due to a loud POP at high volumes! The DJ's nightmare!   I began to wonder, what happened to all those old records and tapes? What happened to all the older, elite audio equipment? Is it sitting in closets or garages, collecting dust?
More importantly, what happened to all the great music that is no longer in print that used to be played on some of that old gear? I had a yearning to hear the old tunes once again.
That's when I decided to create The Sound Preserve. I strongly felt it was the right time to offer owners of those older, sweet sounding audio gems the opportunity to have their LP's and 45's transferred to shiny new digital CD format! I want to do my part to ensure the great and sometimes not so great music of generations past will be around for the new listeners we have brought into the world to experience and hopefully savor.
Welcome to The Sound Preserve. We offer you the opportunity to re-live that favorite old vinyl 33 1/3 LP , 45 or 78 that you can not play because the vinyl is worn, your equipment is broken or it all just sounds horribly bad. With our professional equipment and using the most modern of sound processing software, Diamond Cut Audio Restoration tools, we can transfer your media of choice to compact disc or cassette tape so you can hear your old favorites again. Only this time on your shiny new CD player, cassette deck or MP3 iPOD. Our goal is to recreate your musical experience as close to the day that you first heard it. At the Sound Preserve, we make all attempts to maintain that sweet, analog feel and sound in the digital domain. It is not an easy task, but one of our main goals and one that we take pride in accomplishing with the proper cleaning, time and tender listening.
So there you have it, all the right reasons for The Sound Preserve.
