TSQ was
founded by four music students at UCDavis in 1996 as a means for them to
study the standard and not-so-standard string quartet repertoire and to have
fun doing so. Damian, Evan, David and Esther have been playing together ever since they started
the ensemble in 1996. TSQ was primarily focused on concert performance
and premiering new compositions for string quartet by students of the music
department at UCDavis. As they gained prominence in the UCDavis community,
they were in high demand in providing high quality music for campus events as
well as weddings and receptions for their fellow classmates, alumni, staff
and faculty. All of the members of TSQ have since graduated from
UCDavis, but still rehearse and provide music for weddings and other special
events in Sacramento and the wide stretches of the Bay Area. Their repertoire
has expanded to include Bach, Vivaldi, Corelli, Handel, Haydn, Mozart,
Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Dvorak, Borodin, Scott Joplin,
Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Billy Joel, among
other composers. Both Damian and Evan have arranged numerous pieces requested
by brides and grooms. TSQ has played for numerous weddings and other
events, both indoors and outdoors at venues such as the Compass Rose Garden
in Bodega Bay, Julia Morgan House, Occasions in Sacramento and Seascape
Resort just south of Santa Cruz. They have also played at the Doubletree
Hotel in Rohnert Park and numerous churches in the Bay Area. Since 2002, TSQ has
collaborated and performed with other professional musicians from the Bay Area as duos,
trios, quartets, quintets and string orchestra. Because of this flexibility in personnel, the core
members of TSQ are able to provide music at multiple events on the same day and augmenting
the ensemble with woodwind players (flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons, etc.) as well as pianists. Click here
