F-309 Wild Woozle

1/48 scale late 21st century Aerospace Interceptor Kitbash

Stationed on The Moon, the famous 392nd squadron interceptor squadron played a pivotal role during the War of Martian Occupation in the 2180s, disabling or destroying over 30 Asian Union transport and assault ships, bound for the Mars Colonies.

The F-309 (Wild Woozle) Aerospace Interceptor is a pile-of-parts project.. After collecting kits and parts for a while, I wanted to make a Space Fighter, so I held parts of various kits together, until they started looking like a project, including The forward part of a French Rafale fighter, the wing-roots of an F-14, top and cockpit of a Revel F-19 stealth fighter, engines from a 1/72nd sr-71 Blackbird, cordless phone antennas, and nose from a 1/72 Robotech plane. The F-19's internal weapons bay was split into two bays, in the wings, with Robotech missiles mounted on the extended pylons.

The name Wild Woozle is a pun on my alias of The Woozle. The decals are a mix of original and various kit decals.

The First Moon Landing (original)

In 1970, Apollo Astronauts got quite a surprise when they found the crashed remains of the real first moon landing. 70-million years ago, a Dinosaur craft crash-landed on the Moon. while it appears that one of the occupants survived long enough to plant some instruments and a flag, one can only speculate whether or not it witnessed the asteroid impact that drove its kind to extinction.

The Meteoris (Pulp Fiction)

The Meteoris is a racing rocket, entered in the 8-day rocket race from Mars, around Jupiter, and back. Built on a budget, by a racer without a sponsor, it lacks the grace and shine of a new racing rocket, reflecting it's salvaged parts heritage much better. It was made originally for the Sci-Fan model contest, in Seattle, in October 2002. The special category was to make a racing rocket, based on the 1939 pulp story THE HABIT, by Lester Del Ray.
