Evangeline Cronawert was born in Hillsdale Michigan.
In 1905, she moved west with the family to a
homestead on Hungry Hill, in Stevens County, Washington.
She married Wilbur Houchin December 4, 1917, in Colville, Wash.,
and they lived in Lincoln, Stevens and Ferry counties before
Wilbur died in an accident in 1926. They had three children.
Three years later she moved to Coeur d'Alene and then married
Gus Whitesitt in 1941. Gus and Evangeline owned and operated
the Lake City Dairy in Hayden Lake, Idaho. Gus died in 1952.
In the following years, Evangeline worked as a practical nurse
in private homes and in facilities in the Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls area.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Coeur d'Alene.
Evangeline (Cronawert) Allen, 83, of Coeur d'Alene, died in
a local nursing home. She is buried in the Highland Cemetery
in Colville, Washington. 196
