Kristin Beckwith, biography
Kristin Beckwith has been a member of the Boston Ballet School Faculty
since 1985. Having taught a variety of classes in the intensive
and non-intensive divisions, as well adult classes, she is currently
teaching intermediate 2i and adult classes Monday through Friday.
Before coming to Boston Ballet she taught at Tufts University
(1976-1986) and several private studios in the Boston area, finding
some time for choreographing and performing as well.
Ms. Beckwith has a Bachelor’s degree in Dance from the Boston
Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts, a Master’s degree in Dance
History from Goddard College in Vermont and certification in
Labanotation from the Dance Notation Bureau in New York City.
As a dance historian she has contributed four articles to
"International Dictionary of Ballet," © 1993 by St. James Press,
London: Nikolai Legat, Agrippina Vaganova, Flore et Zéphire, and
The Little Humpbacked Horse.
Ms. Beckwith has three adult children and three grandchildren.
She is married to composer Thomas Oboe Lee, with whom she has
collaborated on a number of dance projects.
