My Buick is 2-tone light and dark brown, the inside is
camel with fake wood accents, and as you might have noticed, is a diesel.
It's not a piece of crap, but I did get it for $200. The cruise doesn't work
and the glow plug system is toggle switch operated (when I bought it), but
is a great deal for $200. It is missing the compressor for the A/C, but it
had the original cassette and it's a real comftorable car. The absolute best
part about Buicks is THE PILLOW TOP SEATS. This car is a project car. I'm
going to keep it a diesel. Once you own a diesel, you'll know why. You get
TORQUE, and down low where you use it most of the time it and it sips rather
than guzzles fuel.
Here is part of the reason why the 350 diesel got a bad rap.
People treated the engine like a gasoline engine. 99% of the time they never
put in the right oil. They would get the right weight, but oil that didn't
meet SE/CC or higher specifications. Even with 20 years of refinement since
this car was made, it's hard to find a motor oil that is SE or highter rated
AND CC or higher rated. Most oils are SJ rated now, which is fine for any
gas engines, but the detergents in them can get screwed up when the results
of diesel combustion enter the picture. I have Shell Rotella T in the car
right now. It's rated for just about any type diesel out there, and is SH
rated for gasoline.
Here's an 87 GN model I made. It even has Black METALLIC
paint, with a clear coat over it. Don't have the decals on yet though.
