In the EQ and bass trap pages, we talked about using both those tools together to obtain the best in-room response. But before building a bunch of traps, it's a good idea to simulate the in-room subwoofer performance.

Also there are numerous freeware Excel spreadsheets that perform this function. Most are limited in the information they provide. And all but one (see below) fail to have any form of graphical display of the room interaction. A Google search for "Room Mode Calculators" will return many hits for these more simplistic calculators. _____________________________________________________________________________________________

Although it's wood grain wallpaper is a little garish, Eric Desart's Room Modes and Reverberation Time Calculator is much easier for the inexperienced Excel user, since it contains pop-up dialog boxes for entering your data. For example ......
