Gary Vinson's very interesting article detailing his project is here.

These are 3 designs made by Tom Bennett. They all are using, RD75's. These images were copied from John Whittaker's  ALSR DIY page.

Below are Chris Allison's monopole RD50's and RD22c center.  The subs, a pair of Lambda 12" are located behind the grill on the outside corners of the entertainment system. They have a Passive Radiator firing out the back of the entertainment system. The center channel which is a RD22c with a pair of Focal 5," is located under the TV.

Rotel RSP-980 processor right and left channel feeds a Clearview two way active crossover. He's using a Parasound HCA1000A for the Ribbons and an Adcom GFA-555II for the bass. There is a bad room mode at about 55hz so a Audio Control Richter Scale is used for smoothing the bass. The center channel runs to a Marchand XM-9 crossover module which separates signal for the RD22c and the Focals. The highpass for the RD22c goes into one channel of a Parasound HCA 1000A and the lowpass for the Focals goes into the other channel of the same Parasound.

The ribbon cabinets are made of 3/4" MDF, incorporate many internal braces and are 61/4"w x 6'h x 12"d. The ribbons start at 18" from the floor which produces an open volume at the bottom each cabinet. Each cabinet sits on a set of four Fowler speaker spikes and the terminals are five way Vampire. The damping material is 3/4" acoustic foam on all sides with a medium fill of Acousta-stuf. The veneer is Burly Maple and the finish is satin. The bass cabinets are made from 3/4" MDF with 1.5" thick front panel and are heavily braced. By my wife's orders, they were made to fit into the entertainment system. Adding the PR in the back and low end E/Qing from an Audio Control Richter Scale, fills out the bottom end nicely. These boxes sit behind grills and are currently unfinished. The center channel is a combination of three separate boxes. One that holds the RD22c and a separate box for each of the Focal midbass drivers. All of these are made from 3/4" MDF and are damped with acoustic foam and Acousta-stuf fill.  One interesting phenomena in this project was a nasty lower vocal resonance from the center channel. He pinned it down to the space inside the entertainment system surrounding the TV. It seems that space created a resonance from the center channel that sounded awful. The fix was to purchase additional shelves from Bush, the manufacture of the entertainment system, and craft panels that enclose the TV and cut down the cavity volume considerably. This made a tremendous improvement in overall sound quality and vocal clarity.

is Here is a picture of Doug Stabler's RD75 based "mains". This is a monopole setup with TL loading for the mid-woofers. There are RD50's used in side wall and rear effects speakers. The web page HERE  contains more information.

Below is  Torin Finver's design based on John Whittaker's ALRS page. His text describes the design.

Essentially, I had a hardwood supplier lay up a 7' x 24" slab of cherry at 1.54" thick. A second 7' x 4" piece was supplied to be split lengthwise for the non-baffle ends of the speakers. I then cut a diagonal from corner to about 6" in at each end giving me two trapezoids. I cut a section off each narrowing the bottoms which gave me two wedges leftover that I used for stand angles for the backs. The large trapezoids and the end caps were slotted out on a table saw and the slot then angle cut to allow the pieces to fit in the radius of the flange. Points along the slot were marked and drilled to allow the rivets to fit in. This was the hard part. Then marks for the screw holes were made and drilled through only the back of the baffles so that once assembled, the screws would go through and attach the flange to the front edge of the slots.  The whole thing was put together after routing the edges and them finished with 3 grades of sandpaper. The final finish is 3 coats of Watco plain Danish oil applied with a 400 grit wet paper.

Although not a DIY project, I've included a picture of Scott Pultz's Wisdom Audio system.

This is the preliminary test baffle for ThomasW's  dipole Swan Dul'cet Model 2 clones. The dipole cone line array contains 8 Eton 8-480/32 Kevlar Hexcone midwoofers. A second much more sophisticated/complicated baffle is currently under construction. Here's a link to more photos and test data from this baffle.

This is Tom Pezarella's system that was featured in Audio-X-Press Magazine. I've included frequency response plots and supplemental info since there is no website that contains this data. This is a tri-amped system, that utilizes an active EQ for the "notch" filter. The RD75 baffle a complicated "wing" shaped dipole. Sitting beside the RD75's is a separate box containing mid-woofers. In addition, there are 8- 12" subwoofers mounted in the wall behind the speakers. The magazine articles detailing the construction of the dipole, were published in January and February of 2001.
