The Eagle Cam at Norfolk Botanical Garden has thousands of viewers each year. The 2011 season was especially hard on the viewers. Just before 9:00AM on April 26th, the female eagle was struck and killed by a plane that was landing at Norfolk International Airport. Her death left the male alone to care for their 3 eaglets.
The following morning the eaglets were removed from the nest and taken to the Wildlife Center of Virginia where they remained until their triumphant return to the wild.
This is my tribute to this magnificent family and the people who cared for NZ, NX and NV.
