Telaviv is a
beautiful black 1978 stallion who was not used at stud until
1992. He sired of 37 foals, 20
of which are black. Although he had not been DNA tested for the homozygous
black gene, he never sired a chestnut
foal. "Tely's" pedigree
is studded with champions and well known sires. Tely was sired by
the black *Fortel son, Taliesin. Taliesin is out of Halali
Tamarisk, a *Witez II granddaughter. Tely's dam, Bint Gayronek,
out of a Fadjur daughter, is also black and is the dam of 7 black
offspring. "Tely" produced elegance and refinement in all of his foals.
He sired Telasecret (Velvet) in
1994. Therrell Arabians was his last home and final resting place.
Telaviv died in 2000.
He will be missed.
