About Us

The Bujinkan Raiken Dojo is dedicated to preserving and teaching the history and tradition of the ancient martial arts traditions as taught by Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi. Hatsumi-soke introduced the teachings of his master, Toshitsugu Takamatsu, to the world so we could better understand the heart of Japanese martial arts. This heart is one of justice and righteousness.

Shihan Wade Goodner has over 21 years experience training in the International Bujinkan Organization. His training began in 1984 at the former Bujinkan Atlanta Dojo. He studied there until he moved to Japan in 1991 to become a personal student of Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi and his Master Instructors. There he received teaching in all aspects of Kobudo Taijutsu, including the ancient weapons arts of Kenjutsu, Bojutsu, Jojutsu, Yarijutsu, Juttejutsu, and Yoroi (armor) applications.

After receiving his Godan (5th Degree) and Shidoshi teaching license in 1997, Mr. Goodner returned to America and founded the Bujinkan Raiken Dojo in order to assist in Dr. Hatsumi's mission to teach the heart of Japanese martial arts to the World. Shihan Goodner travels to Japan every year to continue his training under Dr. Hatsumi’s tutelage and received the coveted Judan (10th Degree) rank in 2002.

Today, Mr. Goodner holds the prestigious Ju-ichidan (11th Dan) rank making him one of a small handful of martial artists across the World to receive any Judan rank or above. The U.S. Martial Arts community recognized this accomplishment this year with an induction into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame. He currently continues teaching at his dojo and conducting regular seminars across the southeast to spread this information to us all.
