Thomas P. Gere
Thomas Parke Gere was born
December 10, 1842, in Chemung County, New
York. He served as First Lieutenant & Adjutant of the 5th Minnesota
Volunteer Infantry Regiment. On February 24, 1865, he was awarded the
Medal of Honor for capturing the flag of the 4th Mississippi (C.S.A.)
during the Battle of Nashville on December 16, 1864. Gere died on
January 8, 1912, and was buried
in Arlington National Cemetery (Section 1, Grave 361).
