THE SILAHR DRACONEV

The Silahr Draconev are the draconian clergy of the Draconihm. While some of Minarra’s dragons can cast clerical spells as a matter of course, the members of the Silahr Draconev are granted spiritual magics that far surpass those of their "lay" fellows.

No dragon is arrogant or foolish enough to actually petition for membership in this very exclusive Order (which is often called simply "the Silahr" by mortal and dragon alike). Rather, the Powers of the Draconihm identify likely candidates and offer membership to those they deem worthy. It is an honor that few refuse.

The Powers of the Draconihm clearly have their own ideas about what makes a good candidate. Ehlaar’s choices tend to be naturally gregarious, gentle, and tolerant of all sentient beings, dragon or no. Koltai apparently prefers those that comport themselves with stoic grace and dignity. Tcharlat’s chosen are often the most cunning and cruel of their kind, yet possessing enough self-restraint to keep their egos in check. Nonetheless, there are common traits that bind the diverse membership of the Order, particularly their startling intelligence, worldly wisdom, and commanding presence.

On each of the Four Continents, each specie of dragon has no fewer than five representatives among the ranks of the Silahr, and sometimes more. Of these, at least two will be of the very old age category, at least. (If there are only two, one will be male and the other female, though not necessarily a mated pair.) The remainder are younger dragons of at least the young adult age category.

As befitting their station, members of the Silahr have greatly enhanced clerical spellcasting ability. Dragons of the Silahr shall have the same number and level of spells per day allowable to PC clerics, where dragon age category equals PC experience level. For example, a great wyrm Dragon of the Silahr has the spells of a 12th level priest at its disposal. These spells are in addition to whatever priest/wizard spells the dragon would normally possess for its age and specie. The range, duration, etc. of these spells is determined by the standard criteria in the Monstrous Compendium.

The esteem in which their "lay brethren" hold the Silahr is clearly reflected in their titles. The senior dragons are addressed as "Lord" or "Lady", the junior wyrms as "Sire" or "Siress". Once in office, the Silahr must then live up to these lofty designations. At any moment, they must be prepared to assume leadership, provide counsel, dispense justice, or practice diplomacy. The Draconihm are often stern and uncompromising masters, and those who fail to measure up are either damned, disgraced, or merely relieved of their duties, based upon the severity of their lapses.
