A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR

The spells, magical items, and monsters on this page are strictly of my own design. Some, of course, have been inspired by the standards found in the AD&D core hardcovers, real-world legends, motion pictures, etc., but their final form and function are my own.

Having said that, I'll be the first to concede that other DMs or professional game designers have probably come up with nearly identical creations. Indeed, it’s hard to imagine that it hasn’t happened, given the sheer bulk of such works as the Encyclopedia Magica, the Wizard’s and Priest’s Spell Compendiums, the thousands of articles in Dragon and Dungeon magazines, the blizzard of AD&D modules and accessories since the late 1970s—the list is endless.

As a DM, I take pride in my own creative ability, as many of you surely do. Accordingly, I do not own many of the works listed above (nor am I likely to in the future), and I've never used a module or campaign setting in my life.  Knowing how I'd feel if I found my ideas used without a word of credit, I try my best to avoid doing the same to some other imaginative DM out there.

If history teaches us anything, however, it is that ideas are not unique. If you find my work somehow derivative, just chalk it up to this simple fact and enjoy them for their differences, not their similarities!

 Yours in gaming,
