Someone coined a phrase similar to this, "The more things change, the more they stay the same." Many things in life change over a period of time but there are a few things that never change. There have been periods in history when change was not at all noticeable and everything appeared to be the same for many years. There have been other periods of history and pre history when changes took place rapidly and some of those changes were quite abrupt and sudden and it was evident that TimesRChangin.
In recent times, such as the past century and a half, we have witnessed many changes, and the rate, or speed of change, appears to be increasing. It is visibly evident and even our ears tell us that TimesRChangin. Knowledge about material things, engineering and design, has increased many fold in my lifetime and the acceleration of change reminds me of my old '57 Ford Convertible after I installed a McCulloch Supercharger under the hood. Floorboard that thing and it was gone. The acceleration or rate of change in knowledge and new changes seems to be at floorboard stage and hold on.
