The League of Robin Goodfellow
c Our Beginning:
Seeing a child smile in delight - for our members that is the true joy of portraying Faeries. Originally, the League began as a small group of friends who enjoyed visiting different festivals and faires, interacting with the public and gifting the children with some small token or trinket. All children who encountered our faeries, left faire with a small gift of enchantment. Now, as we gather more friends from all over California, as well as from other states, we maintain this goal to enchant faire visitors and their children... after all what better place for a little magic than the lavish courts of the Renaissance kings and queens, ladies, knights and jesters.
Our members are enthusiastic, friendly, and truly enchanting. During the last five years this group of friends entertained visitors in venues such as San Diego's Comic Con, volunteered at school festivals, and delighted thousands at events like Faeryworld's Festival, in Oregon, and most Renaissance faires throughout California. Now, as the League of Robin Goodfellow, we want to do more.
c Our Structure:
The League of Robin Goodfellow was established as a formal guild in January of 2006 for those who enjoy the re-enactment aspect of Faerydom. The League's primary purpose is to inform, enchant and entertain children of all ages at festivals and faires, charitable gatherings, and other events where our participation is requested. Additional get-togethers, camp-outs, wing making parties and other Faery related events are held periodically to re-connect with the membership. Our informal name for the League is Puck University... so don't be surprised if you see us running around in our Puck U gear after hours!
c Our Mission:
To educate all who attend faire to the fact that the spiritual and cultural beliefs of the Renaissance populace included beings, such as faeries, satyrs, and nature spirits, which today are deemed mythical or mystical. Historical documents and literature, including those of the great poet and playwright of the day, William Shakespeare, show a myriad of references to these creatures. Although their existence can often be argued today, the belief and the reverence paid to these beings throughout history cannot be denied. In addition to this educational goal, we strive to bring joy and a smile to the faces of fair goers of all ages, especially those who have not forgotten how to believe.
