Hey, you must be the new test-clone Splat-R-KIL! No? Lab-R-ATT? Oh... then what are you doing in R&D? Oh Well. I'm Loose-G-EAR, You want to see what we're working on? DON'T TOUCH THAT!
Look, there's all sorts of very dangerous stuff in here.. do you smell something burning? Anyway, our friend The Computer has dictated that we try out all our newest inventions and design improvements, and the best way to do that is through the troubleshooters! I mean, how much more "live" can you get than real combat, real destruction, and real deat.. er, danger! Anyway, you can look around, just don't touch anything and watch out for test-clone leavings.
Oh, and perhaps you should read the Warning Labels here in the lab, we tend to take them off before any of this stuff hits the field, wouldn't want to unfairly influence the expert opinions of our troubleshooter test subjects.
Deadly: Ok, lets face it, everything that comes out of R&D is dangerous to somebody in some way... ok, to most people in lots of ways. However, some of this stuff is designed to blow up, fail badly, or have it in for the troubleshooters to begin with. Thus, it is, I suppose, even MORE than your average deadly.
Useful: Most thing are somewhat useful, this signifies that the item has some special, helpful use. Not always in the expected manner, it also means that the item has somehow escaped the meddling of R&D or that (should the troubleshooters discern it) is a hidden asset to be exploited.
Useless: (to the troubleshooter) In some very essential way, this item is absolutely useless. It is the antithesis of useful in that it is very unlikely that the troubleshoters will be able to do anything except drag it around and return it to R&D in tiny fragments. This doesn't mean it cannot be deadly, nor does it mean that it does nothing, just that the troubleshooters won't be able to control or gain any benefit from it no matter how hard they try.
Foolish: A number of R&D items would make great gag gifts if they weren't powered by atomic cores and didn't have very sharp pointy ends. Note that being foolish in no way prevents an item from being either useful or deadly.
There are currently 46 R&D items listed.
