Darn, those troubleshooters sure know how to tax bot suriviability! After some signs of hope with the Recorder-Bot 2, the same problems began to spring up! Commies, Mutants and Traitors seem to find the little camera-bots perfect laser targets, and so R&D has been forced to take things in a new direction: UP!
Part 1: Up Up and Blown Away!
Since the 2.0 through 2.6 models always seemed to lose wheels or tip over, R&D has decided to abandon wheels entirely, and version 3 has taken to the air! Also, since the camera systems always seemed to be pointing in the WRONG direction to catch the traitors somehow, the new bot has 4 cameras, mounted in a sphere and rotating. This ensures that the bot will have a perfect 360 degree view with 3D playback possible through special R&D playback systems.
Part 2: What goes up...
The new bot has gone back to a simpler brain, mainly due to a lack of availble space and new weight restrictions. The bot has a very simple command set:
- Survive: If the bot is ever in danger (shot at, knocked about too much) it will attempt to escape by every possible means and return to R&D.
- Record: The bot will not stop recording for any reason. Period.
- Follow: The bot will follow the troubleshooter team into ALL situations. The bot will be keyed to the team leader first, then the deputy leader, then Equipment Guy. Should any of those people die, the bot will key to a new person, either by rank or by proximity.
The troubleshooters are now faced with 2 problems. (1) the bot in general and it's new abilites and (2) a slightly peeved and suspicious R&D. They will have to try and keep this bot functional while still carrying out their treasonous activities. In general, the bot has the following capabilities:
- The bot is of very low intelligence, it has 3 orders and it will follow them. Period.
- It can move far faster than the troubleshooters can run.
- It can probably carry ONE troubleshooter worth of weight under normal circumstances.
- The bot is armored with very thin yellow reflec and the dome has been reinforced with tough plastic. The armor and sphere aren't as heavy-duty as the 1 and 2 version, namely for weight purposes, but the bot has a greatly ramped up evade and dodge system which makes it quite the challenge to hit.
- Other than recording them, the bot will absolutely ignore the troubleshooters. This is part of the "survive" protocol, and to bypass it the troubleshooters are going to have to pull some pretty astounding stuff off to get ANY sort of response from the bot. Even then, the bot isn't going to do much more than tell them the 3 laws it operates under.
- If a troubleshooter manages to disable the bot in some way, they can probably rig the hover-jets into a pretty cool flying car. R&D will LOVE that.
